Sales and letting agents will be able to book their exam next week for the new Level 3 Certificate for Estate and Letting Agents (CELA), following their hours of training on Rightmove.
Launching on 3 March, agents who have completed all their free training and feel ready to take their final exam can sit an independently adjudicated exam through awarding body ABBE for a fee of £170 (plus VAT) payable to them.
The exam is online and on-demand in controlled conditions, so it can be taken at a time that suits busy agents. If they pass the exam, they will be awarded their Level 3 qualification.
Agents can either register for their own exam, or agencies can purchase multiple exam registration vouchers on behalf of their team if they prefer, with vouchers being redeemable at a time that suits each learner within 18 months of purchase.
CELA aims to help more agents have easier access to professional training, and has been specifically designed ahead of potential regulations that the government may bring in based on the RoPA Report.
Each module of the qualification is delivered by an industry expert in that area, with contributors including Josh Phegan, Lesley Horton, Dr David Smith, Richard Rawlings and Susie Crolla.
To help learners further, Crolla will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday 7 March about the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). Understanding and educating landlords and tenants about responsibilities relating to the HHSRS is important knowledge for the CELA qualification, so it is ideal timing for anyone thinking about sitting their exam soon.
On the Rightmove Hub, webinars are now clearly labelled if they support CELA learning as well as being accredited CPD, so that agents can quickly identify webinars that will help them with their qualification.
Agents will be able to book their exam on the Rightmove hub.

Rightmove’s head of education, Jason Charles, said: “For some of our most eager learners who have completed their training and feel ready to put their learning to the test, they will now be able to book their exam to be awarded with their qualification. Getting qualified ahead of RoPA gives agents a powerful USP before it potentially becomes mandatory for all.
“We’ve designed the training for CELA so that agents can progress their learning at their own pace, as we understand how busy they are. The exam follows this, being adjudicated online in controlled conditions meaning it can be completed by agents a time that suits them.”
