Property group announces death of founder and chairman

Barry Gregory

Barry Gregory, the founder of Yorkshire-based property developer Gregory Property Group, has passed away.

The company announced yesterday that its chairman and founder died on 6 July at the age of 82.

The Harrogate-based firm said he died peacefully at home on 6 July, surrounded by his family, after a short illness.

It said Gregory is remembered for his “profound commitment to the property industry to which he dedicated more than 60 years.”

The company added: “Barry was also a great friend and mentor to many of his industry peers. He was highly respected for his expertise but also his sincerity, integrity and kindness.

“In line with the wishes of Barry, after a period of mourning, Gregory Property Group continues to operate as usual under the skilful leadership of John McGhee with Trevor Gurney, Philip Lees, Nick Gillott, Tracy Sormus and Anne-Marie Wisson.”

Funeral arrangements are to be announced in due course.
