Have your say on the ‘state of the lettings industry’

Goodlord and Vouch have launched the sixth annual State of the Lettings Industry report, which will analyse the opinions of thousands of industry stakeholders. The survey has opened for responses, with the results set to be published in September.

The organaisers of the report say it will provide the sector with an in-depth analysis of the trends, progress and challenges facing the industry. The report, which will be released in September, will include feedback from thousands of sector voices. This year, the report will aim to quantify industry sentiment on a range of hotly discussed issues, such as landlords leaving the market and the true impact of interest rate rises.

Responses to this year’s survey can be submitted from today until 25 July. Agents, landlords, and wider industry stakeholders are all able to take part and share their views.

Respondents will be asked for their opinion on the current market conditions, the upcoming EPC changes, macro economic pressures, and their thoughts on the scrapping of Section 21, amongst other hot topics.

The report will also reveal findings from a survey of thousands of tenants, including the impact of rising rental costs and pressures to find a rental house amidst rising demand.

Last year’s report – released in September 2022 – revealed that a huge 80% of agents worried about the economy and the cost of living crisis on the Private Rental Sector and that 81% of agents were concerned about the impact of the Renters’ Reform Bill. In 2022, 40% of agents also said they expected the introduction of a single system of periodic tenancies to have a negative impact on the industry – a change which was recently confirmed in the Government’s Renters (Reform) Bill White Paper.

All those who take the survey – which will take less than ten minutes to complete – will be entered into a draw to win one of three £50 Amazon vouchers up for grabs. The survey can be found here.

I’d say the majority who purchased with a mortgage in the last 10 years are not earning 5% after tax.

EPC changes wont happen in the current proposals without a million being homeless.

The government are in a right mess and the Labour Party will mull/argue over rent controls while sadly many tent cities will appear.
