Connells Group has made a further addition to its national branch network, with the acquisition of Yorkshire-based estate agents Holroyds.
Sitting within the group’s Sequence business, Holroyds further expands the business’ extensive offering in Yorkshire, and comes after Connells completed the Countrywide takeover this week.
Holroyds is a well-established and family-run agent, offering sales, lettings and mortgage services across its three branches in Baildon, Keighley and Bingley.
Chris Holroyd, managing director who heads up the estate agency alongside Julie Holroyd, commented: “This [deal] significantly propels our offering to another level for both our current clients and new, as well as keeping our family-run feel which has served our clients so well over the last six years.
“We can’t wait to get started and look forward to growing the Holroyds brand over the years to come. This is also a fantastic opportunity for our brilliant team who will now have additional career opportunities.”
Upon acquisition each office will continue trading under the Holroyds brand.

Connells Group continues to go from strength to strength.
Many might ask why acquire these smaller 3-5 branch businesses when Countrywide doubles their high street presence, but Connells continuously says that its people are the reason for its success – so it goes without saying that they will always want to acquire businesses with solid property professionals.

Without doubt a great and well respected business has only been operating since 2015 and the MD clearly well known to Connells having joined Sequence to make a successful cold start in Wibsey.a decent suburb of Bradford .
Pride themselves as a family run business but now part of a corporate beast .and will now be dancing to someone’s else’s tune
Whether or not the brand is kept intact ,future expansion is ultimately now someone else’s decision further up the chain
How do you keep them on the premises after the big payday with no skin in the ultimate holding company Skipton Building Society
They left Sequence last time around the houses to strike out alone and good luck to them?
The canny lot at BTW Shiells in Belfast managed to sell themselves not once but twice to Lambert Smith Hampton (Countrywide) in its various forms bought once .management buyout and then sold themselves back again for a lumpy sum .
It will be interesting to see what happens now as part of Connells

You then beg the age old question what about those members of staff who currently hold no equity .How do you keep them sweet too apart from the prospect of a career progression and running their own office in a large organisation which might suit some but not others?
What we have seen with the corporates especially Countrywide the top jobs are normally reserved for individuals arriving externally not promoted from within
Their future hopes and aspirations of being offered and building up a business which they have a stake in and the opportunity of cashing in their chips for the big payday disappeared over the horizon
Not for one moment thought they would be swallowed up by a big corporate
