Media agency working with Boomin among those pitching for Purplebricks

Goodstuff Communications, a major media planning and buying agency, which recently gained Boomin as a client, is among a handful of firms currently pitching for the Purplebricks contract.

Purplebricks has been hosting media pitches this week, with two agencies set to enter the final phase later this month.

Wavemaker is the incumbent defending the account, while the7stars, Goodstuff Communications, Initiative and Manning Gottlieb OMD are the challengers.

Goodstuff Communications, which says it likes to work “with brands that challenge the status quo through innovation” recently won the contract for Boomin, which the company says “is doing the right thing by transforming the property portal market”.

A statement issued in November 2020 said: “The founding team behind Purplebricks – Michael and Kenny Bruce and David Shepherd, who successfully launched the fast growth estate agency model and unique customer proposition, and rapidly built a household brand with an always on media strategy – have appointed us as their media agency of choice to work with on the transformation of the property portal market with new brand Boomin.”

The in-house team at Boomin is headed by Phil Lloyd as chief marketing officer and James Kydd as brand director.

Lloyd was previously the global head of advertising for Paddy Power and more recently the chief marketing officer of carwow, while Kydd has previously spearheaded the launch and growth of entrepreneur led businesses such as Virgin and Purplebricks.

Lloyd, CMO of Boomin said, “The brief set was clear – to create a household brand at speed, with a confident approach and develop a positive campaign that can become famous for making everyone’s life a lot easier when it comes to the property portal market.

“We were looking for a team who were independent in spirit and culture to match our own entrepreneurial instincts. Following a competitive three-way pitch, Goodstuff were favourably selected because they shared our ambition to truly make a positive impact on the world. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on collectively to launch Boomin.”

Sam Drake, Managing Partner of Goodstuff added, “We are delighted to have been partnering with Boomin. At Goodstuff, we want to work with smart and progressive clients who look to challenge what has gone before. The team at Boomin are doing exactly that and we cannot wait to make a collective impact.”

Makes sense that PB would start out sourcing these kind of roles. When I was at the company pretty much every layer of management was poor at HQ. A lot of people in positions they shouldn’t be and because of this the staff below them left due to the lack of direction. At least the management that are still there are good at posting how great and successful they are on LinkedIn

I see today that Property Industry EYE have sent an email pitch from Bruce encouraging agents to sign up to Boomin.

Considering the recent EYE poll that the majority of agents don’t want anything to do with Boomin ….. ?
