Douglas & Gordon signs up to Boomin despite no launch date

Douglas & Gordon has become the latest agency group to sign up to Boomin, the still-to-launch property portal, as a founder agent.

Boomin had planned to launch the new website this month and have invested heavily in a highly-targeted marketing campaign. But the introduction of the new portal has been delayed.

A decision on the new launch date will now be made by Boomin early next year.

It is a disappointing start for Boomin, but this has not deterred Douglas & Gordon, which serves central, west and south-west London.

James Evans, CEO of Douglas & Gordon, said: “At Douglas & Gordon it has always been paramount that we give our clients maximum exposure to the housing market so that we can secure them the very best results. So we are really excited to be working with Boomin, an innovative and forward thinking new property portal.

“We have no doubt that they will be hugely successful and D&G and our clients are looking forward to sharing in this success.”

A number of national and regional operators have signed up to Boomin as founder agents, including Carter Jonas, Martyn Gerrard, Foxtons, JOHNS&CO, Bidmead Cook, Balgores, Miles & Barr, among others.

Michael Bruce, executive chairman and founder of Boomin, commented: “It is great to see that so many leading agencies, both premium and mainstream, national and regional understand the need for change and to reset the balance of power within the industry and that they are placing their trust in Boomin to help achieve this worthy goal.”

Can pie ask for a statement,  everytime a rat agent joins them.

Simple question: where did you lose your soul?

Ignoring the past for one moment, I can understand agents signing up as they potentially have nothing to lose.  Its going to be very interesting to see where we are in 12-14 months from now when agents start being asked for money.  I struggle to see agents paying for 4 portals, as many are currently refusing to pay for 3 now.

But they do have something to lose.  Their data, contacts and control.  Potentially their future business.
