Estate agents reach new heights

A team from Spicerhaart have reached new heights after conquering the Three Peaks Challenge and raising a staggering £27,000 for the Magic Moments Charity.

The 18 strong team from across the Spicerhaart business, completed the three peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 34 hours, including 17 hours of climbing and 17 hours of travelling between each mountain.

Kerry Davies, estate agency director for Butters John Bee, was one of the team. She said: “I trained as part of a mini team with colleagues from my local area but we joined together with others from across the Spicerhaart family on the day of the event.

“We naturally formed three mini-groups as we all had varying levels of fitness and training but we had to work as a team as we couldn’t move on until the slowest person had finished each climb.”

The team travelled together in two minibuses between climbs and survived on very little sleep as they walked through the night and even when in the minibus, they didn’t get very much rest.

The first mountain the group climbed was Ben Nevis in Scotland, followed by Scafell Pike and finishing with Snowdon. Kerry continues: “I enjoyed climbing Snowdon the most but that was probably because it was the last one. “It took five hours to climb Snowdon and get back down, we were all exhausted due to the physical effort and sheer lack of sleep.”

There was a real team spirit with colleagues from Spicerhaart greeting the intrepid climbers at the bottom of each mountain with an array of snacks and treats.

Davies added: “It was a great experience and lovely that we could do it as one team. Whilst you can train for an event like this it is the mental challenge that proves difficult alongside the sleep deprivation. It is fair to say that nearly every one of us had a meltdown at some point during the challenge.

“We climbed with people from across the business, some of us hadn’t met one another before so it was also a good team building exercise.”

Emma Barber, chair of Magic Moments, commented: “It is amazing what the team achieved. They put in so much hard work and raised valuable funds for Magic Moments. It means we can take more unwell children and their families on a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland. I would like to congratulate Gurmukh Panesar, Senior Branch Partner from Felicity J Lord Bow, who achieved the Top Fundraiser Award.”
