The first apartments at a new major development called Brent Cross Town in north west London have been launched, with close to 100 units already reserved.
Argent Related, which is a partnership between a UK developer and a US property firm, has been working on the large-scale township scheme, which spans 180 acres. It includes the delivery of 6,700 homes, along with office space, leisure facilities, parks, retail and new schools.
Local estate agents have been keeping a close eye on the scheme – and plans to launch the new homes – since planning consent for the project was initially granted in 2014, with Savills the only agency appointed so far to sell the first batch of new build properties – to buyers here in the UK and abroad.
Savills has so far secured reservations on around 65 apartments pre-launch in Hong Kong, before offloading a further 30 or so units to purchasers in the UK last week.
To reserve a property, buyers are required to pay an initial £2,000, followed by 5% of the purchase price within 28 days, a further 5% in 12 months time, and pay the balance upon completion in early 2024.
Brent Cross Town, which has a target of becoming net zero by 2030, with the help of energy-efficient designs for the homes and spaces, will see the expansion of the existing Brent Cross shopping centre, the creation of 27,000 new jobs and a new Thameslink train station, giving locals a 12-minute commute to Kings Cross, plus other benefits.
Argent Related partner and head of residential Tom Goodall said the redevelopment would offer “something unique to London”.
“It will be a place that supports health and wellbeing, and maximises the opportunities offered by our new flexible lifestyles. As well as being focused on providing great new homes, we are focused on creating the best place to live in the capital,” he added.
Nina Coulter, UK board director & director of residential development sales at Savills, added: “Brent Cross Town is the most important new residential development launch in London in 2022. Post the pandemic there is a strong “green premium” with homeowners wanting to live in a healthy environment. With its green spaces and commitment to the environment, Brent Cross Town is ahead of many other developments.”
